Upket Browser – Privacy Policy
Effective date: 7 October 2026
Upket Browser ("the app") is a web browser for Android phones and Android TV, published by Hien Nguyen ("we"). This policy explains what information the app handles and how.
Summary
- We do not collect, store or sell any personal data on our servers. The app has no account, no ads and no analytics.
- Your browsing history, bookmarks, tabs, settings and site permissions are stored only on your device.
- Websites you visit and extensions you install may collect data under their own privacy policies.
Data stored on your device
| Data | Purpose | How to delete |
|---|---|---|
| Browsing history, bookmarks, open tabs | Show history and bookmarks, restore tabs | Settings → Clear browsing data, or remove items individually |
| Cookies, cache and site data | Keep you signed in to websites, speed up pages | Settings → Clear browsing data |
| Site permission choices (camera, microphone, location) | Remember what you allowed or blocked per website | Settings → Site permissions |
| Settings (search engine, desktop mode) | Remember your preferences | Uninstall the app or clear app data |
| Downloaded files | Files you chose to download | Delete them from your device |
Private tabs do not save history, and their cookies and site data are deleted when the last private tab is closed. App data is excluded from Android cloud backup. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.
Device permissions
The app asks for these permissions only to provide browser features. Camera, microphone and location are requested only when a website asks for them, and you decide per website.
- Internet – load web pages.
- Camera / Microphone – let websites you allow use them (for example video calls). Audio and video go directly to that website; we never receive them.
- Location – let websites you allow know your location (for example maps). Location is only read while you use the app and goes only to that website.
- Notifications and foreground service – show download progress.
- Install unknown apps – open an Android app file (.apk) that you downloaded yourself, when you tap it. Android asks you to confirm.
Network connections made by the app
Besides the websites you visit:
- Search engine – what you type in the address bar is sent to the search engine you selected (Google, DuckDuckGo or Bing) when you search.
- addons.mozilla.org – on first launch the app downloads the uBlock Origin ad blocker, and it checks for extension updates about once a day. These requests contain no personal data beyond what any web request contains (such as your IP address).
- Browser engine services – the app is built on Mozilla GeckoView, which may contact services such as Safe Browsing lists to protect you from harmful sites. These requests do not include your browsing history.
Extensions and websites
Extensions you install (including uBlock Origin) and websites you visit are run by third parties and are governed by their own privacy policies. We do not control them.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and gives unrestricted access to the internet.
Security
All data stays on your device under Android's app sandbox. Connections to search engines and addons.mozilla.org use HTTPS.
Changes
We may update this policy. The new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
